چکیده

Aims. To detect line effects using spectropolarimetry in order to find evidence of rotating disks and their respective symmetry axes in T Tauri stars. Methods. We used the IAGPOL imaging polarimeter along with the Eucalyptus-IFU to obtain spectropolarimetric measurements of the T Tauri stars RY Tau (two epochs) and PX Vul (one epoch). Evidence of line effects showing a loop on the Q−U diagram favors a compact rather than an extended source for the line photons in a rotating disk. In addition, the polarization position angle (PA) obtained using the line effect can constrain the symmetry axis of the disk. Results. RY Tau shown a variable Hα double peak on 2004-2005 data. Polarization line effect is evident on the Q−U diagram for both epochs confirming a clockwise rotating disk. A single loop is evident on 2004 changing to a linear excursion plus a loop on 2005. Interestingly, the intrinsic PA calculated using the line effect is consistent between our two epochs (∼167◦). An alternative intrinsic PA computed from the interstellar polarization corrected continuum and averaged between 2001-2005 yielded a PA∼137◦. This last value is closer to be perpendicular to the observed disk direction (∼25◦) as expected by single scattering in an optically thin disk. For PX Vul, we detected spectral variability in Hα along with non-variable continuum polarization when compared with previous data. The Q−U diagram shows a well-defined loop in Hα associated to a counter-clockwise rotating disk. The symmetry axis inferred by the line effect has a PA∼91◦ (with an ambiguity of 90◦). Our results confirm previous evidence that the emission line in T Tauri stars has its origin in a compact source scattered off a rotating accretion disk.

Probing the Circumstellar Structure of Pre-main Sequence Stars

We present Hα spectropolarimetry of a large sample of pre-main sequence (PMS) stars of low and intermediate mass, and argue that the technique is a powerful tool in studying the circumstellar geometry around these objects. For the intermediate mass (2 – 15 M⊙) Herbig Ae/Be stars we find that 16 out of 23 show a line effect, which immediately implies that flattening is common among these objects...

A note on quasi irresolute topological groups

In this study, we investigate the further properties of quasi irresolute topological groups defined in [20]. We show that if a group homomorphism f between quasi irresolute topological groups is irresolute at $e_G$, then $f$ is irresolute on $G$. Later we prove that in a semi-connected quasi irresolute topological group $(G,*,tau )$, if $V$ is any symmetric semi-open neighborhood of $e_G$, then...

Sum Relations for Lucas Sequences

V0 = 2, V1 = p, and Vn = PVn−1 −QVn−2 (n ≥ 2). (2) The characteristic equation x − Px + Q = 0 of the sequences Un and Vn has two roots α = (P + √ D)/2 and β = (P − √ D)/2 with the discriminant D = P 2 − 4Q. Note that D = α−β. Furthermore,D = 0 means x2−Px+Q = 0 has the repeated root α = β = P/2. It is well known that for any n ∈ N (see [4, pp. 41–44]), PUn + Vn = 2Un+1, (α− β)Un = α − β, Vn = α...

Submajorization inequalities associated with $tau$-measurable operators

The aim of this note is to study the submajorization inequalities for $tau$-measurable operators in a semi-finite von Neumann algebra on a Hilbert space with a normal faithful semi-finite trace $tau$. The submajorization inequalities generalize some results due to Zhang, Furuichi and Lin, etc..
